Police have said that an attack on a train which left a 13-year-old in hospital is not being linked to the death of Justin McLaughlin. 

The teenager was the victim of what a gang attack on board a service in Glasgow the day before schoolboy McLaughlin was killed on October 16.

Speculation had been mounting on social media that the two incidents were linked. 

But officer from Police Scotland say that the 15 October incident was not being connected to the 14-year-old's death.

The Herald:

Glasgow Police Tweeted: "We are aware of posts online that link the murder of Justin McLaughlin with a teenager seriously assaulted on a train on 15 October.

"There is no information to suggest any link between these incidents. Additional patrols are being carried out to provide public reassurance."

The assault on Friday 15 October was filmed and a video of the attack circulated on social media.

The youngster was left hospitalised by the attack as police launched an attempted murder investigation.

Justin McLaughlin, 14, was was found seriously injured at High Street train station before dying on Saturday, October 16th.

A 16 year-old male has been arrested and charged in connection with his death.

Three other teenagers aged 13, 15 and 16 years have been arrested and charged in connection with the attempted murder of the 13-year-old on a train near to Bellgrove railway station the day before.
