US President Joe Biden will arrive in Glasgow on Monday ahead of the COP26 summit.

Biden is just one of numerous heads of state to attend the climate conference, however he won't be staying in Glasgow, opting instead to travel from Edinburgh.

It means he will be among commuters travelling between the two cities for the duration of the summit, despite warnings of huge travel delays and potential protests.

Here's what we know about Joe Biden's travel plans to Glasgow for COP26...

How will President Biden travel to Glasgow?

It has not been confirmed which airport the US President will fly into for COP26.

However, as of Monday morning, it looks like President Biden's plane is heading for Edinburgh airport.

Last week, a spokesperson for Glasgow Prestwick airport, which has been used for presidential trips in the past, said: "As one of the three airports in Scotland providing entry for COP26, Glasgow Prestwick Airport is playing a key role in supporting the transit of delegates.  As a security precaution we are unable to share details about flights."

Earlier this year, a petition was launched by BrewDog to rename Prestwick airport "Joe Biden International" in an attempt to dissuade Donald Trump from flying to Scotland during the new President's inauguration.

When will President Biden travel to Glasgow?

The President is already in Europe for a meeting with the Pope ahead of his trip to Scotland for COP26.

It is currently thought that he will travel to Glasgow by plane on Monday November 1 before the opening ceremony of the climate summit.

How will Joe Biden travel between Edinburgh and Glasgow?

Reports suggest that President Biden will travel between Edinburgh and Glasgow by road in his car nicknamed The Beast.

The Beast is a custom-built Cadillac 18ft limousine, which weighs between 6.5 and 8 tonnes.

It has extensive security measures built-in, with a bullet proof exterior just the beginning - it can also withstand explosions and give electric shocks via the handles.

Litres of the President's blood are carried around in the car in case of an emergency.

Biden used this car at the G7 summit earlier this summer, while President Obama also used to use the car for overseas trips.
