Residents were evacuated in Glasgow following to the discovery of "potentially hazardous substances" at a property.

Police and emergency services were called to a flat on Shettleston Road following the discovery.

Shettleston Road was closed at Fernan Street, St Mark Street, Blair Street and Old Shettleston Road amid the ongoing incident, police said.

Members of the public were also advised to avoid the area.

Residents were able to return to their homes after the restrictions were lifted around 5pm on Tuesday. 

Police said enquiries into the discovery are ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 12.35pm on Tuesday, 14 November, police were called to a property in Shettleston Road, Glasgow, following the discovery of potentially hazardous substances within.

"Local road closures were put in place and a number of local residents were evacuated as a precaution, however these were lifted around 5pm and residents returned.

"Police enquiries are continuing."
