Lerwick has been named in a new list of the best small towns across Europe "to put on your romance bucket list".
The list has been drawn up by UK-based cruise experts Fred. Olsen.
To come with the list, the travel experts deep-dived into thousands of TripAdvisor ratings to find six "less travelled" European towns where more adventurous travellers can escape to for a quiet Valentine's getaway.

The list features Villefranche-Sur-Saone near Lyon in France, the fortified town of Kotor on the Montenegro Adriatic coast, Argostoli on the Greek island of Kefalonia, Sorrento in southwestern Italy and the harbour town of Cobh in County Cork.
Completing the list is Lerwick, the main town and port of the Shetland archipelago.
Fred. Olsen Travel Agents notes that while being "cold during the winter", Lerwick is a "great small town to experience" for travellers who are looking for "a quieter and more authentic winter experience".
