Three Scottish brothers who rowed 9,000 miles across the Pacific will feature at Glasgow’s annual trad and folk music festival this winter.
Siblings Ewan, Jamie, and Lachlan MacLean raised £1m for charity during a 139-day paddle across the world’s biggest ocean.
Now, the trio will appear as part of Celtic Connections, hosting an evening of music at the Old Fruitmarket on 21 January.
Jamie, who went viral on the internet for playing the bagpipes in the middle of the ocean, will be joined by Lachlan on accordion and Ewan on guitar.
Sponsored by Scottish brewers Innis and Gunn, Celtic Connections will host 300 events and 1,200 artists at more than 25 venues across Glasgow.
This year’s iteration of the festival is to run between 15 January and 1 February 2026.
Celtic Connections Creative Producer, Donald Shaw, said the brothers had “much in common” with the award-winning festival.
“They think on a global scale, have incredible ambition and an unwavering passion for great music, so it’s just brilliant to have them on board! As we chart our way towards January, the festival bill continues to expand and I’m really excited to share such a wealth of new shows.
“The 2026 festival is bringing the world to Glasgow – there’s music of all styles and cultures to be heard and the chance to see incredible new collaborations and performances. There’s no better way to start the year.”

Youngest brother Lachlan, who turned 27 during the journey last summer, said:
"Music is such a huge part of our lives, and having spent so many nights in the crowd watching incredible artists at Celtic Connections over the years, the idea of being part of the show is pretty surreal. Once we get over the overwhelming feelings of imposter syndrome, we’ll be over the moon!"
Ross Ainslie and Duncan Chisholm, who will perform alongside the brothers, as will Valtos, RURA, and vocalist Siobhan Miller.
