Search the Public Notice PortalThe restoration and redevelopment of the A-listed Pollok Country Park Stables and Sawmill project is moving on to its next phase with the award of the construction contract to Morrisons Construction.
The project – which has £13.05million of funding from the UK Government, with a £1.5million capital contribution from Glasgow City Council - will see the dilapidated Stables, courtyard and sawmill within the Country Park transformed into a net-zero carbon “Living” Heritage Centre and community and visitor attraction based around the famous Clydesdale Horses, and the development of traditional power generation into modern renewable technologies.
When complete, the project will feature a 'world-class' heritage centre; a café and shop; education facilities; community, event and meeting spaces - and the re-introduction of Clydesdale horses to Pollok Country Park.
Construction on the final phase will begin in very early 2026 and is expected to be completed by late spring 2027.

Alongside the main contractor Morrisons Construction is the design team for the project, comprising experts from Page\Park, Narro Associates, RYBKA, and Doig + Smith.
It is expected that the project will involve social enterprises and community groups, providing opportunities for training and employability that will develop local environmental stewardship and contribute to sustainability and wellbeing goals.
Earlier work on the project saw essential roof repairs and stabilisation works to secure the structure prior to the beginning of the main works.
Councillor Ruairi Kelly, convener for Built Heritage and Development at Glasgow City Council, said: "The restoration of the Pollok Stables and Sawmill will see these fantastic A-listed buildings in a beautiful location brought back to life and add to the list of world-class attractions in the country park. Their redevelopment will see 18th and 21st century technologies brought together in a project that will be of tremendous interest to a wide range of people.”
