A much-loved BBQ restaurant in Aberdeen has closed amid a “brutal hospitality landscape”.

Smoke and Soul owners Corey Milne and Lindsay Jackson confirmed that The Firepit, located in Aberdeen city centre, will not be reopening following a period of closure.

Milne and Jackson launched the popular soul food business as kitchen residents at brewery Six Degrees North.

After that business closed its doors, the pair took on the entire Littlejohn Street venue in 2023.

Milne and Jackson said: “With heavy hearts, we can now confirm that The Firepit will not be reopening.

“As a small team, we’re taking the next few weeks to carefully consider how we move forward, so our second venue, The Old Smiddy, will remain closed until we can share further updates.”

The pair said that there would be no change to Smoke and Soul’s catering services and food truck, adding: “our diary remains open for future enquiries”.

They said: “Thank you, truly, for your support, kindness, and belief in what we’ve built over the years. It has meant everything.”
