Edinburgh Playhouse recruiting young ambassadors for 2026

Selected participants will benefit from access to unique workshops and panels that explore careers in theatre, interact with backstage operations, and engage with creatives working on upcoming shows.

Last year's participants took part in a variety of activities, including a technical insights day with 'Moulin Rouge! The Musical', an education day and live performance with 'Hamilton', a makeup design workshop with 'The Rocky Horror Show', and a performance workshop with Billie Kerr from 'Six!'.

The programme, set to run from April 2026 to March 2027, will hold workshops on Saturday mornings and during Edinburgh school holidays.

The cost for the full year is £185, with payment plans and bursaries available.

The deadline for applications is March 9, 2026.

The opportunity has been highlighted as being "in extremely high demand", with spaces limited.

The project aims to arm young people with the necessary tools, skills, and understanding of all aspects of theatre, providing them with advantages for future careers and personal pursuits.

In exchange, the young ambassadors will impart their ideas and help shape future projects.

A participant from the first cohort said: "Being a Young Ambassador has truly been a dream come true. I've had the chance to meet so many amazing people from different backgrounds who all share the same passion as I do.

“There’s honestly nothing else out there like this."

They added: “This experience has meant so much to me, especially since I’ve been coming to the Playhouse ever since I was little."

The detailed programme schedule includes activities involving 'Priscilla Queen of the Desert', 'Macbeth', 'Waitress', and 'Back to the Future', among many others.
