A Glasgow-founded camping brand has won a national outdoor award.

Vango, which traces its roots back to Govan, won the top prize at the Out & About Live Camping Awards for its Edition 60 tent – a model created to mark the company’s 60th anniversary.

Judged by leading outdoor experts who test and review tents across the market, the Edition 60 beat strong competition from across the industry.

For a brand with deep Scottish heritage, the win is regarded as a significant moment, not just for Vango, but for the wider outdoor and tourism sector across Scotland.

From its beginnings as a sailmaking business in Govan in 1966, Vango has grown into one of the UK’s most recognised names in camping equipment.

A spokesperson from Vango said: “Winning the Camping Awards 'Tent of the Year 2026' is a proud milestone for our Edition 60 anniversary tent – a design that celebrates six decades of innovation and adventure.

“This award reflects not just our heritage, but our continued commitment to creating tents that inspire people to get out and explore.”

Iain Duff, Camping Editor, Out & About Live, added: “At a time when cash is so tight, it’s vital that campers are as well-informed as possible when it comes to choosing a tent.

"This is the equipment that we think will make a huge improvement to your camping life this year and will be the best use of your money.

"Tents and camping equipment have changed dramatically over the years, but what hasn’t changed is our knowledge and expertise and that’s why we are such a trusted voice for campers. You know that our seal of approval really means something."
