A Tartan Army stalwart and Scottish football expert are joining forces to deliver a lesson 28 years in the making - teaching a Scotland World Cup masterclass at Glasgow Clyde College.
We’re just weeks away from the national team returning to the World Cup as Steve Clarke’s heroes head stateside for the tournament in USA, Canada and Mexico. More than 10,000 Scots are set to follow with millions tuning into games at home.
Designed for a generation of supporters who have never seen Scotland at a World Cup, the course taps into the excitement of the nation’s long-awaited return since their last appearance at France 1998.
Glasgow Clyde College has enlisted the support of Tartan Army veteran Hamish Husband, and host of a popular Scottish football TV show A View From the Terrace, Craig Telfer, to give fans the full lowdown on the trials and tribulations of supporting your country on the international stage.
Hamish Husband has followed the national side since 1965, travelling to three World Cups: Argentina 1978, Italy 1990, and France 1998. His dedication means he’s never missed a game at Hampden since 1987 and reckons he’s almost managed 100 away trips with the Tartan Army.

Scottish television presenter and podcaster Craig Telfer will be giving the lowdown on what Steve Clarke’s men may face this time round as Scotland step into the unknown against Haiti, followed by an old foe in Morocco before the might of Brazil.
The course at Glasgow Clyde College follows previous masterclasses on the Taylor Swift and Oasis reunion tours in 2024 and 2025 taught by diehard fans to help a new generation of concertgoers get maximum enjoyment from the experience.
Robert Anderson, Assistant Principal at Glasgow Clyde College said: “The nation is getting ready to cheer Scotland on at the World Cup next month, it’s been a long time coming with a whole generation of fans having never seen their country play on the world stage.
“Our free course is here to give them a headstart, whether they are trekking over to America or finding their own ‘mini Hampden’ at home.
“At Glasgow Clyde College, we’re focused on helping people prepare, learn and make lasting memories together, much like the incredible moments which will be shared at this huge summer of football.”
Craig Telfer said: “This means so much to Scotland, and it's such an important moment in our nation’s footballing history. This masterclass is just the warm up to the kick off, and will get fans ready for the whistle blowing on June 14th!”
Hamish Husband said: “I’ve followed Scotland my whole life, seeing my first national game as a child, before travelling all over the world with the Tartan Army. From far-flung places in Europe to being fortunate enough to take in some incredible tournaments, from Argentina, to Mexico and Italy - special times that will live with me forever.
“I’m looking forward to passing on my knowledge and stories to the next generation, giving my expert opinion on how best to enjoy a Scotland game, which believe me, is possible.”
The one-off course will take place at Glasgow Clyde College’s Langside Campus on Thursday May 28 from 6pm to 7:30pm in the Innovation Centre.
