Organisers of the 2027 Tour de France Grand Départ have launched a nationwide recruitment drive for 9,000 volunteers ahead of the race’s historic start in Edinburgh.
The volunteer programme, known as JOY Makers, will support both the men’s and women’s editions of the world-famous cycling event as it travels through Scotland, England and Wales.
The Tour de France will begin in Edinburgh on July 2, 2027, marking the first stage of the UK Grand Départ.
Stage one will pass through Midlothian, Dumfries and Galloway, and the Scottish Borders before finishing in Carlisle.
The second stage will begin in Keswick on July 3 and continue south to Liverpool.
Volunteers will help support event operations and improve the spectator experience across all six stages of the races.
Organisers said JOY Makers would serve as "the heartbeat" of the event, helping connect communities and fans along the route.
Applications are open to anyone aged 16 and over, with no previous volunteering experience required.
Training will be provided for all successful applicants.
Volunteers aged 18 to 25 will be eligible for the Readiness to Work scheme, offering employability training and mentoring opportunities linked to the event.
Applications to become a JOY Maker are open until September 1, 2026.
