An iconic Edinburgh hotel has been named the best place in the UK for traditional afternoon tea.
Palm Court at The Balmoral claimed the title of Best Traditional Afternoon Tea in the UK at the 2026 Afternoon Tea Awards, beating venues across the country to secure the top honour.

The awards are judged by independent experts who assess every stage of the customer experience, including booking, service, presentation and value for money.
Located beneath The Balmoral's glass dome and Venetian chandelier, Palm Court has become one of Edinburgh's best-known afternoon tea destinations, serving a Scottish-inspired menu alongside a selection of 88 loose-leaf teas, coffee and pastries.

The experience also includes live harp music and the option of vintage Champagne.

The accolade is particularly notable as relatively few venues outside London have secured the award, with Palm Court succeeding former winner The Corinthia in the capital.

The Balmoral, which opened in 1902 as a grand railway hotel, occupies a prominent position at No.1 Princes Street and features 187 rooms and suites.

The hotel forms part of the Rocco Forte Hotels collection, founded by Sir Rocco Forte and Lady Olga Polizzi in 1996.
The group operates 15 hotels, resorts, residences and villas across Europe.
