Santos star Neymar announced his international career is “over” after Brazil’s World Cup exit.

The 34-year-old scored a stoppage-time penalty after coming on as a 67th-minute substitute against Norway on Sunday, but could not prevent a 2-1 defeat for the five-time World Cup winners.

“I tried, I tried. Now it’s over. I started here, I finished here,” said Neymar in a post-match interview with TV Globo.

The former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain forward made his Brazil debut at the same MetLife Stadium in New Jersey in 2010

Neymar is Brazil’s all-time leading goalscorer with 80 goals in 130 appearances.
