Man arrested after Glasgow disturbance in Lamlash Crescent

A man has been arrested following a protest in Glasgow after a large crowd were met by police who appeared to be escorting two individuals from a property.

Videos circulating on social media show a face-off between officers and the crowd in Lamlash Crescent in the Cranhill area of the city.

People can be heard shouting at the police while they stood guard at a block of flats, where two individuals can be seen leaving while surrounded by officers.

Officers can be seen drawing their batons as they faced off with the demonstrators; however, Police Scotland has not confirmed the details of why they were there.

A 32-year-old man has been arrested following the "protest and disturbance", and fire crews were also called in by the police to "assist with the incident."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 3.05pm on Tuesday, July 7, we received a report of a protest and disturbance in the Lamlash Crescent area of Glasgow.

“Officers attended, and a 32-year-old man was arrested. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) confirmed that Police Scotland asked them to assist with the incident.

A SFRS spokesperson said: “We were called by police requesting assistance at Lamlash Crescent in Cranhill at 16:35. One appliance was mobilised and we left the incident at 17:28.”
