The new ScotRail app is unable to load tickets onto Smartcards, with this feature not expected to be available for several weeks.
The rail operator launched its new app last week but was immediately hit by problems, with users unable to access their accounts.
With no pre-launch download available, commuters were told they'd have to log in to their account on the day and change their password.
However, when people attempted to do so many were unable to as confirmation emails did not go through.

Over the weekend there were reports of passengers buying tickets but being told they were not available in the app, with advice to call a phone number.
As part of the changeover, customers using the website or app can no longer select Smartcard delivery when purchasing a ticket.
The cards are often used for weekly or monthly tickets, and can be scanned at barriers in stations.
On the old app, users could select an option to load their ticket to a Smartcard, which could then be validated on a ticket machine.
However, the new platform does not currently have this capability, with passengers advised to use a ticket office, ticket vending machine or from onboard staff if neither are available at their station.
ScotRail said: "This temporary change may last for a number of weeks. We will update you as soon as the ability to load tickets to Smartcard via mobile and app has returned."
