A new £100,000 funding programme has launched to help more young people across Fife take part in sport and physical activity.

The Summer of Sport Fund, announced on August 10, is part of an £840,000 investment secured for Fife through the Scottish Government-backed Summer of Sport 2026 programme.

Delivered by Fife Council in partnership with sportscotland, the fund will provide grants of between £2,500 and £5,000 to up to 40 clubs and community organisations.

The programme is aimed at people aged three to 26 and is designed to tackle barriers including the cost of taking part, transport and access to activities.

Eligible applicants include sports clubs, community sport hubs, registered charities, trusts, voluntary groups and other community organisations operating in Fife.

Funding could support holiday activity programmes, coaching sessions, community sports events, inclusive activities and equipment hire.

Projects must be delivered by March 31, 2027.

The programme will also support activities through community sport hubs and school-based programmes delivered via Active Schools.

There will be a particular focus on creating inclusive opportunities for young people with disabilities and those from low-income families.

The fund also aims to strengthen links between local sports clubs, the Fife Sports & Leisure Trust and community organisations, while creating pathways into clubs, volunteering and coaching.

Organisations are also being encouraged to become ClubFife accredited, which can help strengthen governance and safeguarding while improving access to future funding opportunities.

Applications opened on August 10 and can be submitted online through the Active Fife website. Full eligibility criteria are also available online.

Councillor Linda Erskine, spokesperson for Communities and Leisure at Fife Council, said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for Fife-based sports clubs, charities and community organisations to access funding that will directly benefit our local children and young people.

"We know that cost, transport and access can all be barriers to taking part in sport.

"This funding will help local groups create opportunities close to home, making it easier for more young people to get active, try something new and enjoy the physical and mental health benefits that sport can bring."
