An 8-year-old boy has been rushed to hospital after being hit by a van in near Falkirk.

The incident occurred on Dryburgh Avenue in Denny at around 6pm yesterday evening and emergency services were on the scene.

His condition is not known at this time, but officers closed the road while carrying out investigations.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Officers were called to Dryburgh Avenue, Denny, around 6.10pm on Monday, 12 July, following a crash involving a van and an 8-year-old pedestrian.

"The boy was taken to Forth Valley Royal Hospital for treatment."
