An inner Hebrides island has been named among the UK's coolest postcodes to move to in 2022.

Tanera Mòr is a remote island off the Coigach peninsula that has been dubbed as this year's most exclusive holiday destination.

The Times has listed the Hebridean island alongside 11 of the "hottest postcodes" in the country.

The list features everything from stunning seaside views in Swansea to gourmet food destinations like Aughton in Lancashire.

Whether you're looking for staycation inspiration or you've got the 'For Sale' at the ready, here's everything you need to know before packing your bags.

Why move to Tanera Mòr?

Tanera Mòr is the largest of Scotland's Summer Isles located by Loch Broom and was the last island of the group to be inhabited.

As of 2014, it was officially uninhabited with only four people living there just three years before.

The remote island though is undergoing a transformation under the vision of hedge fund manager Ian Wace.

Wace bought the island back in 2017 for a cool £1.7 million and has since been creating the luxury retreat he imagined.

The six-year restoration project has set out to "respect the natural beauty and tranquillity and history of the island," a spokesman for the Tanera Mòr Restoration Project said.

The island has a rich history with its iconic herring curing station - one of the first stations in Wester Ross- being established in 1785.

The investment has led to some impressive changes including a cinema built in a converted vintage steamship.

Alongside the former herring station, there are still a series of holiday cottages, a school and a post office.

If you're worried about where you could work, and you're lacking your Herring qualifications, don't despair.

The island is becoming one of the area's biggest employers due to the construction work being carried out.

Now before you jump on the next boat, there is a catch- it is currently just invitation only.

The millionaire-owned island has been rumoured to host royalty Prince Harry himself and Ian Wace's wife and former model and activist Saffron Aldridge is said to visit often.

It might be for the best though - Tanera Mòr still only has a few proper roads so it might be a while until we can move in anyway.
