When reporting on the disgraceful level of domestic abuse recorded by Strathclyde Police over the weekend of the Old Firm match, the Crown Office, Mhairi McGowan of Safer Scotland Glasgow, Scottish Women's Aid and the police themselves are quoted as expressing concern for all victims and their families ("Warning over huge rise in Old Firm domestic abuse", The Herald, September 20).

Yet in your editorial you present the problem as exclusively one of “where men turn their frustration at the scoreline into violence against their wives and partners”.

Do you think that no woman in a same-sex relationship is affected by domestic abuse or interested in football?

Do you think that men who are interested in football are somehow immune from abuse from their female partners?

Is the impact of domestic abuse upon them, their families and society as a whole of no concern?
