I write to clarify a point in the excellent article regarding Armed Forces Legal Action (AFLA) ("Officer planning legal scheme for Forces", July 15).

The article reported that AFLA will seek to extend benefits to service personnel who left the army within two years. I should like to clarify that AFLA will apply to former members of the Royal Navy, Royal Marines and Royal Air Force (in addition to the reserve components of each service). AFLA will also apply to all serving members of each of the services and will seek to offer lifetime cover to recipients of the Victoria Cross, the George Cross and bereaved next of kin recipients of the Elizabeth Cross.
