I WISH Colin MacKay’s “modest proposal” (Letters, December 29) to reopen Finnieston station well, but would advise him not to hold his breath. An even more modest proposal from local residents and John Scott MSP to have all the trains from Kilmarnock to Ayr stop at the two Prestwick stations has elicited nothing more than disingenuous blethers from Transport Scotland and the Minister, Mr Humza Yousaf.

If those who run the trains can’t work out how to get existing trains to stop at existing stations, I rather suspect that Finnieston will remain closed for another 100 years.
