I TOOK out a subscription to The Herald about a year ago. Before that I am ashamed to say I bought a well-known right-wing rag for about 20 years. I had a good excuse though, my cat prefers newspaper in her litter tray, and it was a good thick one.

Since I have taken The Herald, I have enjoyed immensely the debates on the Letters Pages, and the Diary column. I also enjoy the European slant in Fidelma Cook's Saturday Magazine column. It all takes my mind off the cliff edge we are heading for at full speed.
