ON a brighter note to recent correspondence on the lack of manners in today’s society I recently drove 12 miles through the mountains of the Applecross peninsula in Wester Ross to lovely little Applecross, taking in the challenging ascent and hairpin bends of the five-mile Pass of the Cattle, the third-highest road in Scotland, and enjoyed unfailing courtesy and friendliness from other drivers; and not all of them were foreign visitors.
