"CHOOSING, without good reason, not to be vaccinated is deeply irresponsible,” Nicola Sturgeon tells us.

Does she live in a post-fact universe?

Public health supremos, government behavioural psychologists, and scientifically illiterate politicians led us to believe that vaccination would protect us from getting Covid and passing it on to others.

Boris Johnson now admits, because it’s hard not to when the science stacks up to show that vaccinated people carry a similar viral load to the unvaccinated, that "it [the jag] doesn't protect you against catching the disease and it doesn't protect you against passing it on.”

Recent revisions to the “vaccines as saviour” script attempt to bypass the revelation that these vaccines aren’t stopping transmission.

Instead they train our attention on these vaccines’ ability to make outcomes for those who are infected less severe.

But this assertion is also crumbling.

Anthony Fauci, the US Chief Medical Advisor and a key architect of the global public health response to Covid, now says: "[Vaccinated people] are seeing a waning of immunity not only against infection but hospitalisation and death. It's waning to the point that you're seeing more people getting breakthrough infections and winding up in the hospital.”

Leaving aside the robust research data stacking up to show that vaccines are not performing as we were told they would, experiential facts should cause anyone with cognitive openness to question the dominant fallacious Covid narrative.

Look at Gibraltar. Despite almost 100% of the population there having been vaccinated since summer, new Covid cases per capita are soaring – roughly three times more than at this time last year when few were vaccinated – far outpacing the surge in most of Europe.

And who doesn’t know someone who has got Covid, despite being doubly-vaccinated? In England alone, 2,500 double vaccinated over-50s have died within 28 days of a positive Covid test in the last four weeks.

It’s wholly negligent that Nicola Sturgeon ignores these scientific realities. Is this because she, and her narrow-minded coterie of advisors, don’t keep up with the evolving data? Is it a case of closed minds, or hubris? We got it wrong, but let’s tough it out?

Talking of irresponsibility, what alarms me about the First Minister’s vaccine sanctimony is that she encourages a false “I can’t get it” belief in vaccinated people.

A circumspect leader would inform us that the vaccines have not performed as we hoped. She would insist on lateral flow tests for everyone at venues she considers to be possible transmission hot spots, irrespective of their vaccination status.

But, so far, silence from her on that one.

Neither have I heard a word that suggests she is aware of the science showing that natural immunity gained from being exposed to Covid and recovering is much stronger and longer-lasting than the vaccine-induced equivalent.

This is why so many of the English care home and NHS workers we clapped on our doorsteps are leaving their jobs rather than get vaccinated. They have come through all these months, unvaccinated, looking after the sick and elderly, coming into contact with and catching Covid, yet survived.

Many of them are nursing double-vaccinated patients who have Covid, or seeing patients who have experienced adverse reactions to the vaccines.

Why would these “NHS heroes” now agree to six-monthly jabs – one, two, three, four, five or more – of an under-performing vaccine just to make the most irrationally fearful and uninformed amongst us “feel” safer?

Many such health workers are covering for vaccinated colleagues who are off work with Covid and other unusually vigorous seasonal viruses. These survivors have a realistic sense of the risks to their health.

With her fervour for vaccine passports, longer lockdowns, and perpetual mask-wearing, it’s clearly no use appealing to Ms Sturgeon’s supposedly democratic sentiments. Her Covid strategy shows that her espousal of human rights and civil liberties is highly selective.

Her remarks, such as “Getting vaccinated is a civic duty and the most precious gift we can give to others”, cheer on the segregation and witch-hunting of citizens who won’t bow to her autocratic, Covid-obsessed rule.

With typical rationality, the Canadian psychologist Dr Jordan Peterson recently cut through this unpleasant, divisive sentiment. "I'm unclear about exactly the danger the unvaccinated are posing.”

His laser logic exposed the absence of scientific evidence underpinning her ignorant insinuation that the unvaccinated pose more threat to the vaccinated than the vaccinated do to them.

Yet our obdurate First Minister continues to discriminate on the basis of health status, invoking punitive measures against the 10% of us who choose to exercise the right to medical autonomy under the Nuremberg Code and human rights legislation: free, prior, and informed consent to any medical procedure.

No more than we would welcome any politician telling us that we must have a heart bypass or an ileostomy should we let her browbeat those who won’t take the vaccines, when she ignores the potential risks of vaccines and over-hypes their efficacy.

Covid has a survival rate of way over 99%. Covid vaccines are not risk-free. The technology they use is novel, qualitatively different from older generation vaccines. They have not yet fully completed their trials. This is why they are in use under temporary, not full market authorisation.

The UK Medicines and Healthcare products' Regulatory Agency operates a Yellow Card reporting system for adverse reactions. On 11th November it recorded the “total number of fatalities reported” after vaccination as 1,766. This is the number of deaths reported as possibly linked to a vaccine, however they will not have been fully investigated at the time of reporting and a report is not proof that the vaccines caused death.

It also reports 1,261,714 adverse events – that’s bad reactions, to the Covid vaccines. These include acute cardiac issues, blood disorders, anaphylaxis, reproductive and breast disorders, vertigo and tinnitus, paralysis, and seizures.

Is Nicola Sturgeon concerned or informed enough to take note of these real world statistics when she instructs us that it is our “civic duty” to roll up our sleeves, over and over again, on her say-so?

What indemnity fund will she use to pay out compensation to those who are coerced into doing what she says, only to suffer an adverse reaction?

CORRECTION

This article was corrected on Friday, November 26. The figure quoted in the original piece of 1,766 deaths caused by Covid vaccines was incorrect. The “total number of fatalities reported” after vaccination would have been the correct wording. We accept making a causal link was a step too far. Apologies.
