I’VE always tended to see dying or being hospitalised because of someone else’s selfishness and stupidity as a pretty major infringement of human rights. So I’m struggling to understand the screaming hysteria cooked up over plans to introduce ‘vaccine passports’ in Scotland.

Opposition parties from Conservatives to Greens are attacking the proposals. It feels either confected or stupid. The plans could go much further.

At the moment, vaccine certificates would be required to enter nightclubs or large indoor or outdoor events. There’s plenty of room to argue certification should be required for all pubs and restaurants too.
