n Daniel Majstorovic looks likely to have played his last game for Celtic.

The defender ruptured the cruciate ligament in his left knee during a training session with the Swedish national squad yesterday and can expect to take several months to recover.

The 34-year-old has already been informed that he will miss the European Championships in the summer. With his Celtic contract expiring at the end of the season, and Majstorovic no longer among the first-choice centre-backs, it is doubtful that he will remain with the Parkhead side.

"Daniel will stay in Sweden for the immediate future and will have an operation there soon," Celtic said in a statement. "Celtic's medical team will be in close liaison with the Swedish FA medical team to ensure that Daniel receives the best of care. Unfortunately he will be out long-term."

The club may be due some compensation for Majstorovic's injury, though, since it was sustained on international duty. The damage occurred in the final moments of a training session yesterday, ahead of tonight's friendly against Croatia in Zagreb. Majstorovic collided with Anders Svensson and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, with X-rays confirming the extent of the injury.
