Tommy Wright, the St Johnstone manager, is closing in on a deal for the former Dundee left-back Brian Easton, writes Derek Miller. The 25-year-old free agent has been training with the Perth club and Wright may sign him in time for the Europa League qualifiers.
St Johnstone face the winners of Rosenborg's tie with Crusaders – the Norwegians lead 2-1 from the first leg in Belfast – in the second round next Thursday. Easton, who impressed with the relegated Dens Park club and is keen to secure an SPL club, trained with Kilmarnock last week.
