Glasgow City have signed Denise O'Sullivan, the Republic of Ireland striker, as the club continues to strengthen the squad ahead of next month's Champions League qualifying matches, writes Alan Campbell.

The 19-year-old from Cork has played 18 times for Ireland, scoring four goals, including one against Scotland at Tynecastle last year.

O'Sullivan – who becomes City's second summer signing following the arrival of midfielder Emily Thomson from Celtic – first came to the attention of Eddie Wolecki Black two years ago and his enthusiasm for her abilities remains undiminished.

"I first saw Denise playing for Ireland against Wales back in 2011," said the City manager. "It was her debut and she scored both the goals in a 2-0 win. Her overall performance caught my attention and she will add creativity, versatitility and goals to our squad."
