Joachim LoEw admits last month's narrow 2-1 victory over Scotland has given his world champions a Euro 2016 wake-up call.

The Germans face a tricky trip to Poland on Saturday followed by a home match against Republic of Ireland on Tuesday.

"Both games in October are of great significance for us," said the coach. "But we're only at the beginning of a long journey. No-one has qualified after three games.

"I don't just have a lot of respect for the Polish team, but the first qualifier against Scotland showed us that we have tricky opponents in our group. The same goes for the Irish. They play with a lot of commitment, enthusiasm and passion."
