Former Scotland scrum-half Graeme Beveridge, who was appointed operations manager at Glasgow Warriors towards the end of last season, is moving across the country to take up the role of manager of Edinburgh's BT Sport academy. Beveridge, who won six caps for his country between 2000 and 2005, succeeds Grant McKelvey, who is to become the SRU's talent identification and performance projects manager.

With Bruce Frame and Jamie Dempsey already appointed for the Caledonia and West regions respectively, the Union now has three of its planned four academy managers in place.

Beveridge said: "This is an incredible opportunity to be at the forefront of developing young Scottish rugby players. My role at Glasgow has given me a really good understanding of where the professional game in Scotland is at and the high standards that must be reached for players to be involved at that level.

"There are good players coming through and it'll be my job to ensure we continue, working closely with our clubs and schools, to improve the output and the quantity of talent reaching the professional game. I've thoroughly enjoyed my time at Glasgow Warriors and I look forward to continuing to help them achieve their objectives until I move."

Glasgow Warriors Head Coach, Gregor Townsend, said: "Graeme has made a big contribution to the club and we're sorry to see him go. His appointment coincided with a great run of games for us."

Meanwhile, the SRU has confirmed that a number of age-grade, women's and club international games will be taken on the road next year, with Netherdale, Broadwood, Dundee High and Old Anniesland all staging fixtures.
