EDWARD Ofere has admitted Saturday's Scottish Cup final could be his last match for Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

But if he is to depart this summer when his short-term deal is due to expire, what better way to sign off than with the goal which wins Inverness their first major trophy.

With a priceless goal against Celtic in the semi-final, the Nigerian striker has proved himself an asset since arriving as a free agent at the end of February, but there is a suspicion that he may have done so well the Highland side will be unable to keep him.

"As it stands now, the cup final could be my last game for the club," said the 29-year-old, who has also played for Swedish champions Malmo and Serie A outfit Lecce. "My contract is up in the summer, but that is for the agent and the management to discuss. I just have to see how it goes, but I would love to stay because it has been great for me. I have had a great start. I couldn't have asked for more."

All contract negotiations have been parked as the club prepares for their first Scottish Cup final.

"The final is the most important thing at the moment," said Ofere. "It's what we're all focusing on. It means a lot for the club, as well as for the players and the coach. It also means a lot for me. I haven't played in any cup finals before, so it would be good to clinch the trophy. It gives you a line on your CV that you've won a massive trophy."

Unfortunately none of Ofere's family are able to make the cup final. "Just me," said the striker, who has grown used to being self sufficient as he was a lad of just 19 when he left Enugu Rangers to seek fame and fortune in Scandinavia.
