THE big guns enter Shinty's Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup today with holders Kingussie facing the prospect of losing teen talisman Savio Genini.

Kings, who defeated Glen Urquhart 4-0 in last year's televised Bught Park showcase, face resurgent Fort William today, the outfit they defeated on penalties in a tense semi final last term.

However, it is doubtful whether youthful marksman Genini will play any part, other than as a spectator, after taking a heavy knock last weekend against Kyles.

Genini became something of a symbol of last year's run to the final, netting in every round, then capping it all with a sparkling double on finals day.

Losing him for the An Aird tie will be a blow for the Dell outfit as he has been the chief wellspring of their goals this term.

"Savio hasn't been able to train and his leg is badly bruised so there will be doubts about whether he can recover in time," admitted Kings co-boss Russell Jones.

Fort William are taking to life back in Shinty's top flight and will fancy an upset in Lochaber this afternoon, despite Kingussie's status as holders.

Their last three results have brought wins against Oban, Glen Urquhart and championship hopefuls, Lovat and the return of Bryan Simpson has leant them firepower up front.

They will have to do without workhorse Niall MacPhee, who has continental work commitments and will give broken toe victim James Tangey a late fitness check.

Newtonmore will have the 'big one' in their sights this term and will be looking to overcome Lochaber at Spean Bridge to progress to the third round.
