GREAT BRITAIN captain Kieron Achara insists it is time to end Glasgow Rocks long wait for silverware after agreeing a new two-year deal with the BBL outfit.

The Stirling-born forward, 31, rejoined the Rocks early last season after stints in Spain and Bulgaria and averaged 13.7 points and 8.8 rebounds per game.

The 2012 Olympian also joining Basketball Scotland as a development officer and intends to settle back on home soil rather than looking for one more overseas tour.

"I am very excited to be coming back to the Glasgow Rocks for the next two seasons and am hoping to achieve big things while I am here," he said. "I am fully committed to helping the team achieve their goal of obtaining silverware and where better to achieve that goal than in your home country."

With coach Sterling Davis unlikely to pursue the return of point guard Reggie Middleton or frontcourt duo Tommy Freeman and Paul Egwuonwu, the Rocks are set to undertake a major overhaul this summer. It is understood they have held informal talks with fellow GB international Gareth Murray over a return to Glasgow but Achara will remain the foundation.

"It's not only about what Kieron can bring to the team on the court but it's also what he can help with off the court," said the club's general manager Daniel Bajwoluk. "I believe his passion and dedication to this franchise will go a long way in the long term success and stability of the club."
