FORMER Hearts starlet Gordon Smith has become the latest new arrival at Dumbarton.

The 24-year-old was on the books at Stirling Albion last term, scoring 10 goals in 42 appearances despite their relegation from League One.

Smith becomes Dumbarton's eighth summer signing as new manager Stevie Aitken puts his stamp on the Championship side.

Aitken said: "Gordon is a good player and will be an excellent addition for us. I'm confident he can step up for us."

Smith started his career at Livingston before joining Hearts in 2009. Despite failing to nail down a first-team berth at Tynecastle, he will be fondly remembered at Tynecastle for the Edinburgh derby equaliser in a 1-1 draw against Hibs in 2010.

The former Scotland Under-19 internationalist has also turned out for Hamilton Accies and Raith Rovers.
