Gavin Strachan has left his post as manager of non-league Ilkeston to become assistant to new Doncaster Rovers manager Darren Ferguson.
Strachan was part of Ferguson's backroom staff at Peterborough before taking the reins with Ilkeston this summer.
As well as sharing managerial experiences the pair will be able to reflect on another thing they have in common: being the eldest son of a British football legend.
Strachan, of course, is the son of Scotland manager Gordon and Ferguson's father Sir Alex won 38 trophies at the helm of Manchester United.
"I initially played under Darren at Peterborough and then I worked my way up to first-team coach under him," said 36-year-old Strachan, who had a journeyman playing career including brief periods at Dundee and Motherwell.
"I like how he works, I've learnt so much from him and hopefully the players here will benefit from his style of play.
"The opportunity to work with Darren again at such a good club was such an easy decision."
