ALI Price is confident that Glasgow can return to winning ways as long as they can play with greater accuracy at key moments. The scrum-half, the Warriors’ fourth-choice No 9, acquitted himself well in his team’s 34-10 defeat by Racing 92 on Saturday, and is now eager for more European game time.

“We just need a bit of accuracy, I think,” the former Scotland Under-20 cap said after the Champions Cup match, in which he only played because Henry Pyrgos, Mike Blair and Grayson Hart are all on the injury list. “We had all the effort and we know what we want to do. But when we’re playing at the pace we want to play at it’s the little things, forcing things. If we’re more accurate we can come away with a win.

“Injuries happen. It’s rugby. If I have to play 80 minutes then I have to play 80 and I’m not going to say no to it. I try to take every opportunity I can to put in a good performance for the club. If I get the nod I would love to go to Northampton.”

Price’s chances of playing in that Pool 3 game could depend on whether Blair and Hart recover from recent head knocks. Pyrgos still faces the best part of two months on the sidelines after undergoing wrist surgery at the end of October.

Price admitted that coming up against world-renowned players such as Dan Carter was an unusual experience. “These are guys I’ve watched on TV for the last few years,” he added. “To be playing against them is a bit weird, but at the end of the day it’s just another game of rugby.”

Mark Bennett was forced off with a shoulder injury towards the end of the Racing match. The centre is still officially a doubt for the game against Northampton on Sunday, but the initial signs have been encouraging.
