Raith Rovers passed up the opportunity to cement their place in fourth in the Championship as bottom side Alloa Athletic earned their first victory under new manager Jack Ross.

The Stark's Park side handed an instant debut to forward Louis Longridge, signed on loan from Hamilton Accies for the remainder of the campaign, but it was a profligacy in attack that was the undoing of the Fifers on a night of frustration for them.

It was a night to celebrate for the visitors, however, as Iain Flannigan's 85th-minute penalty snatched just a second win since September for the basement outfit.

Mitch Megginson's wasteful header from a Ross Callachan cross after just 12 minutes set the tone for a night when nothing would go right for the home side in front of goal.

Second-half efforts from James Craigen and Megginson that screwed wide of the upright added to the irritation in the home stands and their mood got worse with just five minutes left as Alloa sealed all three points.

Iain Davidson was adjudged to have felled Iain Flannigan at the climax of a swift counter-attack and the Wasps winger coolly despatched the winner from the spot.
