RANGERS midfielder Joey Barton has asked the SFA for more time to respond to allegations that he breached their strict anti-betting rules.

His request will be considered by a judicial panel today. Barton was issued a notice of complaint last week for breaching Disciplinary Rule 31 by placing wagers on 44 matches.

The 34-year-old is currently sitting out a three-week suspension from the Ibrox club for a training ground spat.

Warburton's weekly press conference at Auchenhowie was halted briefly yesterday by PR advisor Jim Traynor after the manager was asked repeatedly about the Joey Barton situation.
