TOM Rogic says that Celtic have a responsibility to get the job done when Anderlecht visit in their final Champions League group game on Tuesday.
The Scottish champions will be guaranteed Europa League football after Christmas if they avoid losing by three goals or more at Parkhead, thanks to their 3-0 win in Belgium earlier in the campaign.
Celtic lost all four of their matches against Group B rivals Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain, but the Australian midfielder thinks his side's display in the 2-1 defeat to the German champions on Halloween has instilled confidence in the players.
“Any European night at home is always special,” he told the Celtic View.
“We know what the atmosphere is going to be like so as a player you don’t need any added motivation at all.
"These are special nights and it’s our responsibility as players to go out there on the pitch, perform and get the job done. We're always confident at home, knowing we have that support there. It’s an important match. We understand that and we will be looking to get the job done.
“In particular, the Bayern Munich game at home has given us as players, and I guess the supporters, a lot of confidence going into the match. It’s something to build on. We always want to improve and become better players and a better team and we will be looking to build on that for sure."
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
