ALLAN MCGREGOR Made a couple of early stops but was left exposed by his defence as Melgarejo scored and Goldson converted into his own net. Two saves from Hanni were superb but could do little about the third and fourth goals. 8

JAMES TAVERNIER Has been caught out at the back post throughout his Ibrox career and was once again here as Melgarejo scored from close range. Couldn’t really regroup after that and didn’t offer enough going forward. 5

CONNOR GOLDSON Was under pressure from the off as Spartak looked dangerous in attack and made a mess of dealing with a Rasskazov cross as he put the ball beyond McGregor. Not commanding enough in the air or on the ground. 4

NIKOLA KATIC Stopper hasn’t had much game time of late but was brought back in for arguably the biggest match of the campaign. Couldn’t make the most of his chance, though, and never looked comfortable or competitive. 4

JON FLANAGAN Restored to the left-back berth but endured a difficult first half as Spartak exploited him time after time. It didn’t get much better after the break as he toiled badly. 3

LASSANA COULIBALY Had a hand in opening goal as Eremenko scored into his own net but was caught out of position and in possession at times. Couldn’t get to grips with Spartak and lost the midfield battle. 5

SCOTT ARFIELD Tried his best to get forward and lend a hand in the final third. Couldn’t make his presence felt when it was needed most and wasn’t at his best. 5

OVIE EJARIA Didn’t see that much of the ball in the first half as Rangers struggled to assert themselves in the final third. No real influence in the second period either. 5

DANIEL CANDEIAS A lovely touch and neat finish put Rangers 2-1 ahead and was the highlight of an impressive first half. Not as effective in the second but still put in a shift. 7

GLENN MIDDLETON Got the vote of faith from Gerrard as he replaced Ryan Kent and the winger repaid his boss in style. Eremenko own goal came from his corner and then he scored the third himself with a low finish. Can be proud of his efforts. 7

ALFREDO MORELOS Caused Spartak problems with his running and work rate but will be frustrated that he strayed offside as he was denied a goal late in the first half. Had few openings after the break as Rangers struggled in the final third. 6

EROS GREZDA (for Coulibaly) Overlooked for a start on the left. A late throw of the dice that failed to pay off. 2

ANDY HALLIDAY (for Flanagan) Should have been on earlier but couldn’t make an impact in closing stages. 2

GARETH MCAULEY (for Ejaria) Made his Gers debut in the final seconds as Gerrard chased an equaliser. 1
