PARTICK Thistle manager Gary Caldwell has been handed a one-match dugout ban for the Jags' biggest game of the season at Alloa.

The former Scotland defender was yesterday found guilty of breaching Scottish FA disciplinary rules over his criticism of referee Andrew Dallas.

The Herald:

Caldwell was furious with the official’s handling of the 1-1 draw with Falkirk on January 12, particularly the decision to show midfielder Gary Harkins a second yellow card in the 74th minute.

After the game, Caldwell said: “We should’ve won but for another crazy decision.

“I’m not saying they can be perfect but I think the way they go about it afterwards, the arrogance they show, isn’t great.”

Caldwell must now watch from the stands in Saturday's bottom of the table clash at the Indodrill stadium when basements side Thistle will attempt to climb out of the relegation zone with victory over ninth placed Alloa, who are only a point better off.

Caldwell has also been given a suspended one-match ban until the end of the campaign.

A Thistle spokesperson said: “Gary Caldwell has been handed an immediate one-match suspension following a Scottish FA Judicial panel hearing at Hampden.

“The manager was found to be in breach of Disciplinary Rules 72 and 203 and will be banned from the dugout for Saturday’s trip to Alloa Athletic.”
