BAIN: Parried teenager James Scott’s original effort that led to Motherwell’s goal and plucked another from the air shortly after. (6)
TOLJAN: Seemed to be sleeping as Motherwell netted their controversial striker as he allowed Ariyibi to nick in front of him. (6)
BOYATA: Had a hand in Celtic’s second goal of the afternoon but was furious after Motherwell’s controversial strike. Involved in a heated argument with Richard Tait following the incident. (7)
AJER: Another industrious shift from the 20-year-old defender but after being booked he ran the risk of going off as he struggled to keep his anger at bay after Motherwell’s goal. (7)
TIERNEY: Captained the team as he made his first appearance since December and quick to reacquaint himself with the fullback role. Fine run as Celtic scored their first and off to a sound ovation midway through the second period. (7)
FORREST: Had a chance to make it three just before the break but had his shot saved. (7)
CHRISTIE: Cross in for the opening goal but afternoon curtailed when he had to go off with what appeared to be a hamstring pull just after the restart. His injury kickstarted the controversy of the afternoon. (6)
BITTON: First start since serious knee ligament damage. Deployed in the middle of the park and played well. Cramped up somewhat in the second period. (7)
HENDERSON: First start for the youngster and made quite an impression. Pinpoint cross onto the head of Edouard for Celtic’s second goal of the day but all round excellent display. Technically assured and composed even in the tightest of spaces. (8)
SINCLAIR: Fine cushioned volley to open the scoring for Celtic just on the half hour mark. (7)
EDOUARD: Booked in the first-half after a clash of heads between him and Tom Aldred. Bulleted a header to give Celtic a comfortable cushion in the second period before sinking an exquisite freekick. (8)
HENDRY: On for the injured Christie with Ajer stepping into the middle of the park. (5)
HAYES: Took over from the tiring Tierney in the second period. (5)
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
