ST MIRREN midfielder Greg Tansey believes Saturday’s match with Livingston has become a “must win” for the Paisley side.

Draws in their last two games away to Aberdeen and then Hearts have handed Saints a lifeline in their battle to avoid the drop.

But they still trail both Dundee and Hamilton by four points and Tansey knows they need to start turning draws into wins.

The former Aberdeen man said: “It’s a massive game now against Livi and it’s simple: it’s one we must win. Because of the way we’ve been playing we’ve got to take this momentum now and go and beat Livi. It’s as simple as that.

“In the Hearts game we had more than enough chances to win it. We could have had three or four goals. The boys were disgruntled not to win the game and it was the same against Aberdeen. The fans were happy with a point on Saturday but we weren’t. But next time we’ll look to get all three.”

Saints brought in so many new players in January that Tansey admitted he wasn’t sure of his team-mates’ names in their first few matches.

But the former Inverness Caley Thistle player believes the squad has now settled down and showing what they are capable of.

He added: “It was a bit of a joke as when there’s that much of a changeover you don’t really know each other’s names that well on the pitch. You actually had to check with yourself what someone’s name was before you asked for a ball! But it’s a lot better now.

“The gaffer has worked us really hard in training with double sessions and in the gym and you can see the difference now.

“On a personal level I’m starting to feel a lot fitter. And it will only get better with the more games that I play. I had a long time out but over the last week or so I’ve started to feel a lot more like myself again.”
