SCOTT BAIN: Very little to do in terms of direct saves, but did what was asked of him in terms of fielding crosses comfortably enough. 6
MIKAEL LUSTIG: Surprise selection ahead of Borussia Dortmund loanee Jeremy Toljan and kept things simple as he put in a solid showing without getting forward too much. 6
DEDRYCK BOYATA: Managed to marshal Hibs twin attacking threat of Florian Kamberi and Marc McNulty without breaking too much of a sweat and kept his discipline throughout. 7
KRISTOFFER AJER: Helped Boyata to keep the Hibs forward pairing quiet for the most part, and was also decent with the ball at his feet, being prepared to step out of defence with the ball when the opportunity arose. 7
KIERAN TIERNEY: Was visibly frustrated as link-up with Sinclair stuttered in the first half, but still managed to get forward and throw in some dangerous deliveries while enjoying a decent battle with Daryl Horgan going the other way. 7
SCOTT BROWN: Captain’s passing range was a little hit and miss at times in the first half, but his influence grew the longer the game went on and capped off a fine night’s work as he lashed home a stunner of a second. 8
NIR BITTON: Kept things simple in beside Brown and always a cool customer whenever the ball arrived at his feet. Good disciplined shift from the Israeli. 7
JAMES FORREST: Started wide and was quiet, but within seconds of being brought into a central position behind Edouard by boss Lennon the Scotland man showed how dangerous he can be, threading a ball through that the striker should have scored from. Then produced a moment of breathtaking quality to give Celtic the lead, finding the top corner from 25 yards. 8
OLIVER BURKE: Had a great early chance when played in by Edouard but shot too close to Marciano who pulled off the save. Rather skirted around the fringes after that, and was moved wide right by Neil Lennon as he looked for a way to get him into the game. Was unlucky to be clipped by Stevenson as he ran in on goal. 6
SCOTT SINCLAIR: Took an almighty ear-bashing from Kieran Tierney for failing to show for the ball enough when the left-back was in possession during the first half, and he didn’t have too much influence on the match after the break either before being hooked with 15 minutes to go. 5
ODSONNE EDOUARD: Good early pass put Burke in on goal and then he stumbled as he failed to make the most of his own opportunity when in on Marciano. Looked far more comfortable when pushed right up top after starting in a deeper role in behind. 6
SUBSTITUTES:
MIKEY JOHNSTON: On for Sinclair for last quarter of an hour but didn’t get much chance to show what he can do. 3
EWAN HENDERSON: Came on with a minute to go for Burke. N/A
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
