OSIJEK are set to be priced out of a swoop for Florian Kamberi as Hibernian demand top dollar for the Swiss striker.

Easter Road chiefs are aware of the Croatian clubs’ interest in the 24-year-old, while several other sides south of the border and on the continent are monitoring Kamberi’s situation.

However, no official bid has been tabled and Hibs have no desire to sell one of their prize assets, especially given the uncertainty surrounding whether fellow frontman Marc McNulty will return to the club.

It is understood Hibs would demand a high six-figure fee to even countenance selling Kamberi, who head coach Paul Heckingbottom’s believes can recapture his best form next season. That would likely prove too steep for his admirers at Osijek.

The rangy front-man initially arrived in Leith on loan from Grasshopper Zurich in January 2018 and went on to notch nine goals in 14 outings, forming a deadly partnership with Australian internationalist Jamie Maclaren.

That was enough to convince the Hibees to shell out £100,000 to make the move permanent last summer but he struggled to hit the heights of that first spell, scoring 12 times and regularly finding himself bearing the brunt of criticism from previous boss Neil Lennon.

Nevertheless, Heckingbottom reckons he will benefit from the creative spark of Scott Allan in the coming campaign and, with his contract running until 2021, Hibs are in a strong position to keep the player.
