Agent Cesare Marchetti has lifted the lid on ex-Hamilton star Ziggy Gordon's failed move to Dinamo Bucharest.
Gordon, 26, agreed a deal with the Romanian giants after leaving FOY Stadium at the end of last season.
However, the manager who agreed to make the deal happen - Mircea Rednic - was sacked over a poor league position.
This put a spanner in the works for Gordon and Marchetti who had both worked tirelessly to get the deal over the line.
According to Marchetti, new coach Eugen Neagoe never truly rated Gordon as a defender and had his own ideas for personnel.
And the agent reckons his reasoning for pulling out of the deal was "brutal" after the new boss claimed Gordon was "not a footballer" .
He revealed: "Ziggy had a gentleman's agreement to leave Hamilton for free if a club abroad came in for him.
"In January, Dinamo wanted a right-back and I knew their coach Rednic liked defensive-minded full backs.
"It was late at night on a Friday that I suggested Ziggy and on Saturday they came back wanting to sign him.
"The deal was stopped as the club's sporting director wasn't convinced he was good enough in attack, but Rednic overruled him and pushed for the signing.

"Hamilton initially rejected the approach and asked about a fee but Dinamo wouldn't pay.
"But at the end of January Hamilton actually made contact and asked if the move was still possible, to which Dinamo agreed.
"It was accepted that Ziggy would play a game against St Johnstone and fly to Bucharest the next morning.
"But around midnight, Hamilton called and said the deal was off."
He continued: "It was around May when the coaches daughter came to watch Hamilton against St Mirren and we agreed a pre-contract.
"After Rednic got sacked, the new coach said 'Ziggy is not a footballer'.
"They claimed they needed a player with more technical ability who could attack, so the deal was annulled.
"That was really disappointing as it took six months to make it happen, only for the new coach to throw a spanner in the works.
"In the end, Ziggy didn't fit their project.
"I think it was brutal and it was harsh.
"But I understand that a new coach has his own ideas on players and style of play."
Gordon has since signed for Central Coast Mariners down under and Marchetti believes he'll shine in Oz.
But he'll always remember the poor treatment his client received from Romania.
He concluded: "I do think that Dinamo handled the situation poorly, as Ziggy had signed a contract several days prior.
"Ziggy is a very good defensive player and would probably be the first to admit that he’s not Cafu.
"He suited Rednic's style perfectly, but this is football and things change."
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
