THE Scottish Premiership has returned, and it's fair to say that the 2019/20 campaign has shown us exactly what we've been missing over the summer months.

Celtic put seven goals past St Johnstone, Aberdeen came from behind to pick up three points on the opening day in a thriller against Hearts at Pittodrie, and Connro Goldson's last-gasp intervention at Rugby Park ensured that Rangers' title bid got off to a winning start.

The results mean that our Manager Power Rankings are now officially under way. This season, we'll be ranking managers based on their team's performances in the Scottish Premiership in a bid to determine which coaches are over - or under - performing in the Scottish top flight. If you want to know more about how it all exactly works, it's all explained here.

We'll be using a chart like the one above throughout the season to highlight the rankings table but, as you can see, it isn't very decriptive with just one round of fixtures having been played. Here's another graphic that shows the standings after the first matchday.

Celtic boss Neil Lennon and Ross County co-managers Stuart Kettlewell and Steven Ferguson are the early leaders, having watched their respective sides come flying out of the traps in the league's opening weekend.

Both teams were expected to win before the match - and did so - meaning that the managers get a single point each. Additionally, both Celtic and Ross County chalked up wins of three or more goals, so both clubs' coaches gain an additional bonus point.

Elsewhere, Steven Gerrard picked up a point for his team's win at Rugby Park, Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes was rewarded with one too for his side's comeback victory over Hearts, and Paul Heckingbottom gained a point following Hibernian's 1-0 win over St Mirren.

The final manager to start the season on a positive note is Motherwell's Stephen Robinson, whose team played out a goalless draw against Livingston in West Lothian. The home side were the bookies' pre-match favourites, so Robinson gained a point for the result, while his opposite number Gary Holty lost one.

Brian Rice, Craig Levein, Angelo Alessio, Tommy Wright and Jim Goodwin are all sitting on -1 after the first round of games, with all five managers on the losing side of the Premiership's opening round of fixtures.
