NEIL LENNON wants to reinvest the £25 million that Celtic banked from Kieran Tierney's sale to Arsenal in up to five new players, Manchester City winger Brandon Barker is having a medical at Ibrox and Kilmarnock boss Angelo Alessio is targeting more signings now that the English transfer window has closed.
Celtic reject McGregor bid
The Daily Mail are reporting that Leciester City manager Brendan Rodgers tried to raid his former club Celtic for the services of midfielder Callum McGregor. According to the report, McGregor was keen toi discuss a move with Rodgers but Celtic rejected the approach as they were unwilling to sell any more key players after Kierany Tierney's departure.
Lennon wants five new signings
Celtic manager Neil Lennon has revealed that he will ask the club's board to sign up to five new players with the £25 million that the club recieved from Arsenal for Kieran Tierney. Lennon said: “I’ll be standing with my hands out. We’ll look to bring another left-back in, no question. And a right back as well. And a left winger. And a right winger. And maybe a centre forward.”
Barker set to complete move to Rangers
Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has confirmed that Manchester City winger Brandon Barker, who spent the 2017/18 season on loan at Hibernian, is on the verge of signing for the Ibrox club and is currently undergoing a medical. "We haven’t signed him yet," said Gerrard. "He is having a medical. It’s close."
Celtic: We did all we could to keep Tierney
Celtic have insisted that the club 'did all they could' to keep a hold of left-back Kieran Tierney, and claimed that Tierney 'very much wished to pursue' the move. An official statement read: "We did all we could to keep Kieran at Celtic. While the club did not need or wish to sell Kieran, this was an opportunity which Kieran very much wished to pursue and with the club having received a significant offer, we have agreed to the transfer."
Alessio: We need more bodies in
Kilmarnock manager Angelo Alessio has admitted that he is surprised that his playing squad is so small - but hopes to bring in further reinforcements now that the English transfer window has closed. Alessio said: "There is the one thing that we start the season without a lot of players and this is a surprise for me. I think when the market finishes in England we will have more opportunities to take players. I still think three or four players."
Tierney reveals 'heartbreak' in open letter to fans
Kieran Tierney has taken to social media to open up on his 'heartbreak' of leaving Celtic Park, and admitted that yesterday was 'the hardest day of his life'. Tierney wrote: "Every single second of my Celtic career was a dream and I gave my all every single time I stepped onto that pitch, it’s honestly the least I could do for everyone involved at the club."
