STEVEN DAVIS was delighted to end his Ibrox goal drought as he fired Rangers to the brink of Europa League qualification this term.
The midfielder netted his first strike since returning to the Light Blues in January as Steven Gerrard’s side beat Porto on Thursday night.
Alfredo Morelos had opened the scoring for Rangers midway through the second half and Davis’ deflected effort clinched a deserved win and huge three points.
Rangers now head to Feyenoord with a knockout berth in their sights and the Northern Irishman admits it was a memorable night for everyone at Ibrox.

Davis said: “I’ll take them any way they come, it’s been that long! I was delighted to get on the scoresheet and such an important win for us puts us in a really strong position in the group. Now we can look forward to the final two games.
“I’m playing a bit of a deeper role now than I was then but it’s been far too long – I still should have got on the scoresheet before now since I came back to the club.
“I was delighted to get off the mark and hopefully a few more opportunities will present themselves in the coming weeks.
“Nights like these are very special nights. It was a really good win and a clean sheet against a top team.
“We’ve been strong in European games here since the manager came in.
“We knew how important these games are. It was a big result and hopefully we can go on and see it through and progress from the group.”
