SCOTT MCKENNA reckoned Aberdeen owed boss Derek McInnes their impressive Ibrox performance after earning a deserved point against Rangers on Saturday.

McInnes was the target of angry chants from Dons fans during the goalless draw with St Mirren.

But his side were much improved against the Light Blues and McKenna was pleased with the showing at Ibrox.

“Definitely,” he said when asked if he felt the players owed McInnes one following the criticism last week. “I think we have been solid enough back to middle and maybe just not creating the amount of chances that we should in the final third. Coming here, that is always going to be hard and I think a point is probably a good result for us.

“What he has done at the club over the last six, seven years has been tremendous and I don’t think people can forget that too quickly.”
